Lead Employment Expo coming April 16

SURF and Fermilab will be hosting a job fair on April 16

Sanford Underground Research Facility, America’s underground laboratory, and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, America’s premiere particle physics laboratory, are co-hosting the Lead Employment Expo on April 16. The job fair will highlight open positions focused on skilled trade, technical and administrative roles to assist with the Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility project of the international Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment known as DUNE.

The job fair will be held from 2 – 7 p.m. on April 16 at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center located at 160 W. Main St. in Lead. Other employers from the Black Hills region will also be represented at the fair.

Fermilab and SURF are looking to draw job seekers from South Dakota and eastern Wyoming. Candidates with experience in construction, electrical work, engineering, equipment operation, information technology, logistics, and administrative work are encouraged to attend.

“We are excited to continue building our South Dakota team dedicated to advancing science and discovery,” said Fermilab Human Resources Project Manager Deanne Randich. “The LBNF/DUNE project is at the forefront of scientific discovery, and we are actively recruiting people from the Black Hills area for this important work.”

“Operating and maintaining the complex infrastructure in the nation’s deepest underground laboratory takes talented individuals across various disciplines. At SURF, we believe our people are our greatest asset and we welcome motivated and skilled professionals who are passionate about science and eager to make a meaningful impact. Don’t miss this chance to join a world-class research facility right here in the Black Hills and be part of our dynamic team,” said SURF Human Resources Manager Chris Burger.

Hosted by Fermilab, DUNE is currently under construction at the Sanford Underground Research Facility. It is an international science experiment that will study the behavior of mysterious particles known as neutrinos to solve some of the biggest questions about our universe.
